                The government of Fiji has realized the need for improved education among its residents and has recently budgeted for an additional $260 million to education in 2005. 

Furthering their investment in education, in 2005 they also set aside $1.1 million to build a Form 7 college, as well as $150,000 to build a special education school in Delainamasi. 

In 2003 there were a total of 1,404 schools; 569 pre-schools, 17 special schools, 712 primary schools, 157 secondary schools, 4 teacher training colleges, and 63 vocational schools.  In addition, there are also 56 boarding schools. 

Higher education can also be obtained in Fiji at the University of the South Pacific, the Fiji Institute of Technology, and the Fiji School of Medicine.
