Island Exploration

Adventure and Relaxtion

The tropical environment of Fiji lends well for outdoor recreations, both above and below the water.  It’s hard to stay indoors with clear blue-green waters surrounding white beaches that are met by rain forests towering up the mountain sides.  But it takes more than looking to really experience Fiji.  The islands offer plenty for adventure seekers of all levels.

For those looking to relax in Fiji, touring through the rainforest is the perfect way to go.  Fiji is unique in that its waters are clear and completely unpolluted by waste and dangerous animals.  Fiji offers many secluded spots to float quietly and explore unspoiled beauty.

There are also entertainments that can be found in the Western world.  No less than 10 golf courses are scattered throughout Fiji, and they were built to suit golfers at every level while also offering up spectacular views all around.

For those looking for a thrill that can only be found in Fiji, you have to look no further than the ocean right outside your door.  Fiji has some of the most impressive diving in the world thanks to its unique eco-system that includes reefs that border all of Fiji’s islands.

These expansive reefs are where the largest system of soft water coral in the world can be found.  The coral not only paints the underwater world with vivid bursts of every color in the spectrum, but it also serves as home to over 1000 types of fish among dozens of other types of marine life.

In Fiji shopping buffs can get an experience like nowhere else.  One of Fiji’s biggest exports is garments, which means there’s plenty to choose from at the Fiji Markets.  There locals offer up their hand-made wares that includes everything from wooden carvings to artifacts.

The resorts also offer a great shopping experience that’s closer to home, and credit cards are widely accepted.

The islands of Fiji might be small land wise but they are packed with things to explore.  Spend the day lying on the beach, trekking through the rainforest, walking through caves, swimming with reek sharks, touring the citys’ museums and art galleries, or even take a trip on an Island Hopper Helicopter and tour Fiji from up above.

Interesting Fact

Yagona, as known as Kava, is a traditional drink in Fijian culture. It's prepared and served from a large wooden bowl called a Tanoa. In ceremonies people sit in a circle with the Tanoa in the middle and drink the kava from coconut halves called bilos.

Before drinking the kava down in one long chug you clap once, take your bilo and say Bula (which also means 'cheers'). Once you have drunk all the kava you clap three times to show your thanks. And never walk across the circle and turn your back to the Tanoa, which are signs of disrespect.
